Cuomo has resisted calls to resign from lawmakers, including New York Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) as well as 16 Democratic members of its delegation to the House. Until Sunday, President Joe Biden was conspicuously silent on the harassment allegations accumulating against Cuomo. Exiting Marine One, Biden finally spoke when asked by a reporter whether Cuomo should resign, saying:
“I think the investigation is under way and we should see what it brings us.”
The president and Vice President Harris had up to that point stayed mum on the subject. Will Biden’s brief statement provide Cuomo with a reprieve, at least until New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) is done conducting an investigation into the allegations?
